As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned to let go before, but lately I’ve realized that letting go looks different now. This new chapter is about growth and scale, and that means stepping back so our planners and crew can step forward. If we’re going to grow, I can’t be everywhere at once and the best part is, I don’t have to be!
This summer was the perfect reminder of that. I had originally planned to cut my vacation to Madrid short to come back and facilitate the 4th of July event at Birkdale Village. But when I mentioned it to my neighbor, she asked why I was leaving Madrid so early, which made me pause and ask myself the same question. Why was I cutting my trip short if I have a team I can rely on?
That question was the nudge I needed to step back and Brandy, one of our seasoned Event Contractors, stepped in beautifully. She led the full set-up for our 4th of July brand activation at Birkdale Village, drawing from her experience leading registration at countless conferences and assisting with numerous community events.
This was our fifth year supporting Birkdale Village, and the event saw record attendance with steady year-over-year growth in both turnout and brand awareness since we’ve partnered with them.
It was a milestone for our client, our community, and our team and Brandy was at the center of it. For me, it was also a milestone as a business owner realizing that letting go to grow isn’t about stepping back less, it’s about stepping back differently, so that our team can shine, our clients can thrive, and our company can scale into its next chapter.
